Miniature GEC oscilloscope

Miniature Oscilloscope by GEC

Miniature GEC oscilloscope

Introduced towards the end of 1945, this test unit was built by GEC using a 2 inch tube and three miniature valves (‘tubes’ US). Quite a remarkable feat when one considers that absolutely everything is included within the slimline case. Definitely NOT an easy task to restore, especially as a couple of our units front panel controls had seized and needed replacing!

As we don’t usually demonstrate this item at the events we atttend, here is an opportunity to see it working with two different waveforms. The ‘scope tube might not be amongst the brightest, but the trace itself is sharp, clear and stable. (There is no focus control) To the right we can see a perfectly acceptable square waveform.
